LED solar lights

When the sun goes down, the cosiest part of the day begins for many outdoor areas. But without lighting, the garden quickly becomes dark, uncomfortable - and unsafe. Solar lights solve this problem simply, flexibly and in an environmentally friendly way. You don't need a cable, power connection or complicated installation. Simply set them up - and the sun does the rest.

Solar lights for outdoors

Recharge during the day and enjoy long bright hours in the evening - this works especially well with our solar globes for the garden. Surrounded by green nature, they set beautiful accents to grasses, flowers and trees in the last hours of the day with their round shape. And the best thing is that you are just as free to choose the colour as you are the plants! From classic yellow light to red and green light, you can find the right light colour in no time at all thanks to the integrated colour changer.

Tip: If you don't have your own garden, you can also set up the solar lights as atmospheric lighting on your patio or balcony.

Different types of solar lights

High-quality solar lights are an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient solution and are suitable for outdoor use. There are a variety of solar lights that differ in terms of their form, function and placement and can fulfil every need and style:

  • Motion detectors: These lights switch on automatically when motion is detected. They are particularly suitable for security and lighting entrances or dark areas.
  • Floor spotlights: They are recessed into the floor and shine from bottom to top. This makes them ideal for accentuating plants, trees or architectural details and provides a pleasant light.
  • Spheres: Spherical solar lights are decorative elements that can be placed in flower beds, on lawns or in ponds. They create fascinating lighting effects.
  • Lanterns: These are traditionally designed lights that look like classic lanterns and create a nostalgic atmosphere. They are portable and versatile.
  • Fairy lights: Solar fairy lights are ideal for decorative lighting in the garden, patio or balcony. They provide a romantic light and create a cosy atmosphere, and are available in various colours and designs.
  • Table lights: Perfect for garden tables or patio furniture. They provide soft light for outdoor activities in the evening.
  • Wall lights: Are mounted on walls and effectively illuminate entrances, garages or facades. They increase safety and are decorative at the same time.

Modern LED solar lights and their functions - the light of the future

Modern solar lights have numerous functions that make them versatile. A twilight sensor ensures that the lights switch on automatically at dusk, so you don't need an extra switch or power connection in the garden. You can also use the colour fixation and colour change function to let your light shine according to your personal mood. Some models have an additional fire effect that takes the cosy atmosphere to a whole new level. You can adjust this from a distance using Bluetooth control, while movable elements and dimmers offer you additional flexibility and convenience when designing your lighting.

Advantages of solar lights

Solar lights are a sustainable lighting option that does not require an external power source and therefore reduces energy costs. Their simple installation makes them flexible and quick to use, which is reflected in many other benefits:

  • Automatic switch-on at dusk and switch-off during daylight optimises energy consumption
  • Available with cold, neutral and warm white light as well as integrated colour change
  • Suitable for floor and ceiling mounting
  • No wiring required, which simplifies installation and saves costs
  • Portable and versatile, ideal for temporary and permanent installations in gardens, courtyards and balconies
  • Environmentally friendly LED light based on sunlight
  • Low-maintenance and durable thanks to modern LED technology
  • Depending on the IP protection class, there are also solar lights that are winter-proof without any problems

Should solar lights be switched off in winter?

As a rule: No, switching off is not necessary - but it depends on the type of lamp and the location.

  • Why not just leave them switched on? Most modern solar lamps are equipped with a twilight sensor. They only switch on when it is dark - and only when enough energy has been stored. If there is not enough sunlight in winter, the lamps automatically light up for less time or not at all - this does not harm the technology.
  • When is it still worth switching off? In permafrost or heavy snowfall: moisture and frost damage the battery in the long term. If the lights are not winter-proof, switching them off and storing them in a dry place is a good choice. If the battery regularly runs out completely: This can shorten the life of the battery in the long term. In this case: Switch off, charge (e.g. indoors with USB - for suitable models), store in a dry place.

Recommendation:

  • Winter-proof solar lamps can remain outside - even when switched on.
  • Non-winterproof models should be switched off, cleaned dry and stored in a protected place.
  • Check the battery regularly and charge if necessary to avoid deep discharge.

Frequently asked questions

How do solar lights work?
Solar technology is based on the photovoltaic effect, in which sunlight is converted into electrical energy when it hits the solar modules directly. The light's built-in rechargeable battery stores the energy, and the light switches on automatically in the dark with the help of sensors. As the sun is the only source of energy, you can save on electricity costs in the long term with a solar light and use an environmentally friendly light source.

How long do solar lights take to charge?
Solar lights usually require 6-8 hours of direct sunlight to fully charge. In cloudy weather, the charging time can be up to 10-12 hours. When the stored energy is fully charged, they normally shine for between 6 and 12 hours.

How bright are LED solar lights?
Solar lights have a brightness of 10 to 1,000 lumens, depending on the model and intended use. Decorative lights often have a lower brightness level, while functional lights, such as path lights, achieve a higher lumen output.
