Interior lights for a respectable lighting concept

There is much more than just a central ceiling light that illuminates your room from above. Utilise the variability of the different light sources and fully exploit the lighting potential of your rooms. You can choose from the following lights:

• Pendant luminaires: Their positioning makes the lamps an ideal eye-catcher at eye level. Certain areas are illuminated and thus organised.
• Floor lamps: These are suitable for all kinds of activities such as sewing, reading or relaxing on the sofa. Floor lamps always improve the brightness with different designs.
• Ceiling lights: The entire room is illuminated, for example by a stylish pendant light.
• Table lamps: The additional light sources also serve as great design elements. A table lamp looks good on chests of drawers and side tables, making it an ideal room highlight.

• Chandeliers: Similar to pendant lights , they give the room a striking look and are suitable not only for villas but also for smaller flats.

• Spotlights/spots: Certain areas of the room are well showcased and can also completely illuminate the interior in the form of multi-arm ceiling spotlights.

Just as there is more than just the typical ceiling light, a distinction is also made between different light sources that illuminate your rooms in a variety of ways:

For the living room and children's room

In the children's room and living room, the room is best illuminated by general lighting. You can create this with several wall lights or ceiling lights with all-round light distribution, such as pendant lights. If you prefer zone lighting, you can use ceiling washlights to illuminate your reading chair or play corner or create a bright atmosphere around your couch with floor luminaires. Lighting accents with a night light or LED strips, which can be easily controlled using a smartphone, are also perfect.

In the dining room

Use a wall light to create targeted general lighting. A centrally positioned pendant light is ideal for the dining table, providing optimum lighting for the area around the dining area. LED elements in the crockery display cabinet or picture lights provide decorative lighting.

In the kitchen

Ceiling spotlights or recessed spotlights are particularly suitable for the kitchen area. Above the work surfaces and under the kitchen cabinets in particular, sufficient light must be provided in the form of good zone lighting, usually in the form of under-cabinet lights or recessed furniture lights. Accent lighting tends not to be used in kitchens.

For the bedroom

Ceiling lights with a textile shade are usually used for the sleeping area to create a cosy lighting atmosphere. A bedside lamp provides excellent area lighting, which makes reading in the evening much easier. Decorative light beams such as illuminated lettering are also popular stylistic devices for accent lighting.

In the bathroom

For the bathroom, the following applies quite simply: simple ceiling lighting or subtle recessed spotlights provide the necessary light for applying make-up, shaving and for the morning styling routine. Mirror lights are the perfect light source, which can be complemented by accent lighting in the form of decorative lights.

Corridor lighting

It is best to equip your hallway with simple ceiling lights. These do not take up much space. In narrow stairwells, these are often fitted with a motion detector. This is not only very practical, but also extremely economical. Mirror lights are best suited for the last check before leaving the house.

LEDs are the ideal lighting technology for your living space because they are not only extremely versatile, but also the most economical light source available. Different versions make it possible to ensure the best possible illumination at all times.

Notes on interior lighting

These include wind gust lamps, filament lamps and even smart home versions. Thanks to retrofits, even older lampholders are compatible. With a much higher energy efficiency than conventional light bulbs, LED light sources are also much more durable. When selecting your LED light bulb for indoor use, pay particular attention to the following tips:

• Ensure a colour rendering of at least Ra 80, otherwise colours will not be shown to their best advantage. This is most noticeable in the bedroom or at the dining table, where items of clothing or food are cast in an unpleasant light.
• A universal white colour temperature, which can improve the ability to concentrate, is ideal for the desk. The same light sources can be used just as well in the bathroom.
• They create a pleasantly cosy lighting atmosphere with LEDs in warm white. Warm white should be used in living rooms, bedrooms or other quiet areas.

Dimmability as an additional advantage

Lighting that can be dimmed creates a special ambience, especially in living rooms and bedrooms. Not all LEDs are dimmable, but a dimmable wall switch can help. Thanks to in-built dimming technology, this does not require an additional dimmer and is activated with a double click.
